On Tuesday, January 24th, Whole Foods Market at Yonge and Sheppard generously donated 5% of their net sales to North York General Foundation.  Whole Foods Market hosts Community Giving Days (also known as ‘5% Days’) four times each year, partnering with local charities and organizations to support the communities it does business in.

“Our corporate focus in January was on organizations that give back in a health focused way,” explains Caitlin Beatty, Senior Marketing Specialist, Whole Foods Market. “North York General was a natural fit!”

The Whole Foods Market donation will support the redevelopment of Phillips House, a hospital-owned heritage estate, into a home-like outpatient mental health care facility for children and youth.  A leading-edge mental health care facility, unlike any other in Canada, Phillips House will host North York General’s highly acclaimed outpatient Adolescent Eating Disorder Program and additional outpatient clinics, with a dedicated kitchen and garden for patients and their families.

“Whole Foods is a strong supporter of anything that promotes gardening and healthy eating,” says Mrs. Beatty. “We strongly believe in the projects that will be undertaken at Phillips House, and the value they will have for our community.”

Whole Foods Market donated over $3,700 in support of North York General, bringing the total community giving amount raised at the Yonge and Sheppard location to over $40,000 since its doors opened in 2015.

If your business is looking for a way to give back to the community you serve, consider partnering with North York General.  “Any opportunity you have to show corporate and social responsibility is good for business,” says Mrs. Beatty. “North York General Foundation is a great organization to partner with and the hospital has a big impact on the health and well-being of our community.
